Ray's Art

(All pictures, including those shown here, can be viewed on my gallery  - click here for gallery)

I studied art at school up to "A" level standard with the intention of taking it up as a career, but the call of Rock'n'Roll and the open road ( that is touring the UK and Europe in a grubby old van, playing at unwholesome venues and occasionally fraternising with members of the audience thereof) put paid to any idea of further education at that time.

Although continuously dabbling, I started painting seriously in 1977 and "Sleeping Dragon" was my first completed work.

I completed a few works in 1977, but following the usual trials and tribulations of family life I did not actively paint for a long time.

During a brief spell of recuperation and idleness, following illness, I began painting again in 1999. I completed some works which had been started in 1977 ("aircube" opposite) and started many new works.

Since that time I have painted continuously, some work being completed in three or four weeks, some taking over a year. I usually have several paintings in progress at once, as I use oils which take a long time to dry, so there is a delay between painting the various layers.

I have been involved in shows, from 2000 onwards, notably in the Leytonstone Festival art show, the "Epicentre" in Leytonstone and "The Changing Room" gallery in Lloyd Park, Walthamstow (of William Morris fame).

I have started to produce Limited Edition prints from my paintings and these will be marketed in 2003.
